Jugal Trivedi (CDM ’06)
While still in high school, Jugal Trivedi visited a DePaul University open house and saw right away that it would be a good fit for his undergraduate studies. He was excited by the small class sizes, excellent faculty and experiential learning opportunities. “Also,” he says, “the Trivedi family has five DePaul alumni who were encouraging me to follow in the family tradition!”
Since graduating from the College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) with his bachelor’s degree in information systems, Trivedi has made a career in human resources (HR) technology. Currently he is an HR systems and process analyst at U.S. Cellular in Chicago, where he mainly works on the company’s e-learning application with the organizational learning group.
To maintain his ties to DePaul, Trivedi has been active in the DePaul Young Alumni Committee since its inception and is the committee’s liaison to the Chicagoland Alumni Chapter. “Joining the Young Alumni Committee has allowed me to stay connected with the DePaul community and make a contribution back to the university that contributed so much to my success.”
How has your DePaul CDM education helped you?
[By] giving me the experiential learning needed to compete in a global economy. Most of my classes consisted of working in teams of people from various socioeconomic backgrounds. This helped me become more diverse in my ideas and hone my skills in team work. Once I graduated, I was able to shift seamlessly from the academic world to the corporate world. At DePaul, I learned from professors who worked in the industry and had firsthand knowledge about the latest technologies and latest business practices.
What do you like most about your current job?
I enjoy the freedom to learn and solve problems on my own but always having a great team there to help if I need it. I am given the opportunity to work on any projects that interest me, make mistakes and learn from them, and I am never discouraged from challenging the status quo… . Of course, being associated with the greatest team in baseball, the Chicago White Sox, and getting good tickets as a perk would be up there as well.
