Driehaus School of Business Dedication Ceremony
Richard H. Driehaus’ extraordinary gift to DePaul University provides the business school with the resources to attract and retain the finest faculty. On September 19, 2012, the College of Commerce at DePaul University was re-dedicated as the Richard H. Driehaus College of Business.
"The Dreams of Generations"
Generations that have come before help to build the DePaul University we know today. Patrick (BUS '82) and Elizabeth Moore worked together as a young married couple to enable Pat to earn his degree and eventually become the CEO of Smurfit-Stone. They have endowed a scholarship fund at DePaul that will benefit students for generations to come, and in 2011 issued the Moore Family Challenge, which raised more than $500,000 for scholarships and programs across the university. "You have to work hard to succeed in anything," says Patrick Moore, "but the support of others makes a critical difference."
The largest component of the $300-million Many Dreams, One Mission Campaign for DePaul University is a $100-million goal for scholarships. Gifts to the Campaign make it possible for this and future generations of DePaul students to realize their dreams.
At age 15, Lisandra Tena (THE '12), ran away from a troubled home, dropped out of school for a time, then reconnected through Job Corps, a GED program, and a community college theatre program. Her dream of becoming an actress drew her to the renowned conservatory training program at The Theatre School at DePaul. DePaul recognized her talent and work ethic, and provided the financial and academic support that made it possible for her to earn her degree and achieve her dream. Today, on her way to becoming a successful working actress, she embodies thousands of DePaul students and alumni whose dreams are sparked by the generosity of others.
