Many Dreams. One Mission.
Our Campaign theme captures the spirit of DePaul and its resolve. Our university—students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends—are driven by Vincent’s basic, imperative question: “What must be done?”
Thanks to the historic generosity of alumni and friends, we reached our original $250-million two years early. We could have stopped, but there is more that must be done. We must continue to press on through 2014 and build resources in key strategic areas. We have set a new goal of $300 million, with a particular focus on achieving our priority goal of $100 million or more for scholarships, as well as other goals for facilities in the performing arts and for faculty and program support across the university. All of these are substantive elements of DePaul’s continued academic excellence and its leadership in American higher education.
This ambitious campaign has achieved success and great momentum due to the energy and generosity of our alumni and friends, who have recognized the importance of investing in fulfilling DePaul’s mission to furnish an excellent education to students from a broad range of backgrounds. The campaign has never been about achieving a number, but about maximizing investment in the core of our mission: in scholarships so that talented student can attend; facilities that meet high educational standards; and faculty and programs that deliver on our promise of excellence.
Dreams are powerful. Three hundred and fifty years after his death, Vincent de Paul’s dream to improve the lives of others endures in the students, faculty and alumni of DePaul University. Vincent said to the Daughters of Charity, “Love is inventive to infinity.” By that he meant that when our dreams are harnessed to our mission, there is no end to where we can go and to what we can achieve.
