Why should I get a DePaul alumni email account?
A DePaul alumni email account shows your connection with your alma mater. All email you send comes from your “alumni.depaul.edu” account rather than a generic dot-com address.

Will my account expire?
You can keep your DePaul alumni email account for as long as you wish, but you will need to log in at least once every 365 days. If you do not log in for over a year, the contents of the inbox will be deleted, but the account itself will remain and may be reactivated. Please contact our office at (800) 437-1898 or dpalumni@depaul.edu if you believe your account has expired.

I never got a confirmation email or I am having problems logging in.

Will someone from Microsoft or DePaul have access to my email?
No, no one from Microsoft or DePaul will have access to your email. Although an automated process indexes your email content for fast search retrieval, no one at Microsoft or DePaul will read your email. For more information, read our privacy statement and Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.

How large is the email quota (storage space)?
Outlook Live Mail accounts currently have unlimited storage for email and calendar content.

Do I need to use a Windows-based PC? Do I need to use Microsoft Internet Explorer?
No, Outlook Live Mail is a web-based service and is accessible through any browser on both PCs and Macs. Most of the extra web-based services included in the Microsoft Live suite can also be accessed from Internet Explorer or Firefox browsers.

Can I forward my DePaul alumni email address to another email address that I check more often?
Yes. At any point, you may enable forwarding to another email address. To do so, log in to your DePaul Live Mail account. Once you’ve signed in, click Options, then select See All Options. Under My Account, you may choose to forward your email to another email address. Please note that all forwarded messages will be deleted from your DePaul alumni account, and you must log into your DePaul account once every 365 for the account to remain active.

What if I already have an Outlook Live Mail or Hotmail account?
You may still keep any external accounts; they are independent of your DePaul Live Mail account. However, you may choose to switch to DePaul Live Mail exclusively and even move your existing messages there.
