New Alumni Center to Open This Fall
A new DePaul University Alumni Center is scheduled to open this fall on the Lincoln Park Campus. The new center will include an alumni lounge area, featuring free wireless access and desktop computers with printing capability. Alumni Relations staff also will have offices in the building and will be on hand to answer questions and offer their assistance to visiting alumni. The center will be located in a newly renovated building at 2400 N. Sheffield Ave. (corner of Fullerton and Sheffield avenues), which will also be home to a new welcome center for prospective students and all admission-related offices. Benefit of the Month: Undergraduate Application Fee Waiver
If you know a student who plans to apply to DePaul for the first time, consider requesting an application fee waiver. Each academic year, alumni have the opportunity to submit an undergraduate application fee waiver for one prospective student applying for admission to DePaul. Submit a fee waiver request online at http://www.depaul.edu/alumniwaiver.


Reunion Weekend 2009: Register Now for Early Bird Rates
Reunion Weekend 2009Reunion Weekend 2009 is just a little more than a month away. Be sure to register by Oct. 2 to enjoy the early bird registration rate. This year’s featured events include the Reunion Luncheon and the first inauguration of DePaul’s Fifty Year Club, a Young Alumni Reunion for the classes of 2004-2009, and Reunion Dinner and Celebration to honor all of the reunion classes. College of Communication Announces Innovative Journalism Courses
DePaul University’s College of Communication is exploring the newest frontiers of journalism through several new courses aimed at providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in this ever-changing field. “Digital Editing: From Breaking News to Tweets,” taught by recent graduate Craig Kanalley (CMN MA ’09), has gained national attention as one of the first college-level journalism courses focused on the social networking site Twitter and its implications for news gathering. The college is also offering cutting-edge courses such as entrepreneurial journalism, backpack reporting and niche journalism. For more information, read the full news story. DePaul Academy Honored with Plaque
In July, a commemorative plaque marking the site of the former DePaul Academy was unveiled by the Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M., president of DePaul University. The academy, a Catholic all-boys high school founded by the Vincentian Fathers and Brothers of the Congregation of the Mission in 1898, was housed in the current Byrne Hall on DePaul's Lincoln Park Campus. DePaul Names Vice President for Public Relations and Communications
Cheryl Procter-RogersOn Aug. 31, Cheryl Procter-Rogers joined DePaul University as vice president for Public Relations and Communications. In this newly created role, she is responsible for integrating and strengthening university-wide communication efforts to promote and enhance DePaul’s visibility. Reporting directly to the president of DePaul, she will oversee media relations and internal, external and presidential communication. Visit Alumni News to read more about Procter-Rogers.


Blue Demons Basketball Schedules Announced
DePaul recently announced the men's and women's basketball schedules for the 2009-10 season. Both teams open the season at home, with the women’s basketball team facing Central Michigan on Friday, Nov. 13. The men’s team hosts Columbia on Tuesday, Nov. 17. The full men’s basketball schedule and women’s basketball schedule are available online.

Get an early look at the teams during open practices exclusively for DePaul Reunion Weekend attendees, alumni and season ticket holders on Saturday, Oct. 17. More details will be available soon on the Reunion Weekend events listing and the DePaul Athletics website.
