The inaugural induction ceremony will take place during this year’s Reunion Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009. It’s back-to-school season already! If you’re shopping for school supplies--or just on the lookout for a great deal--be sure to check out the alumni rates on technology products from Dell and CDW-G. Both companies offer special alumni discounts on electronics including computer hardware, software and accessories, as well as MP3 players, digital cameras--even televisions! To start shopping with your discount, visit Dell’s DePaul University page and CDW On Campus.

Interact with Students Through New Alumni Volunteer Opportunities
Through a partnership between the Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, alumni now have the opportunity to connect with students in the Men of Color (MOC) Initiative or the Women Empowered (WE) Program. These programs address the needs of undergraduate men or women of color at DePaul, encouraging them to succeed personally and professionally while gaining valuable leadership skills. Some ways you can become involved in these programs include volunteering for a guest speaking engagement or hosting a field trip at your company for MOC or WE participants.

Visit the alumni volunteer web page for details about these and many other service opportunities. If you are interested in participating in the Men of Color or Women Empowered programs, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (800) 437-1898 or log in to your online alumni profile to update your volunteer interest areas.

DePaul Announces New 10-year Master Plan for Lincoln Park Campus
LCP RenderingThough DePaul University’s School of Music and The Theatre School have long been among the most prestigious and competitive programs of their kind in the nation, they have been operating out of less than world-class facilities. To better align these facilities with the excellence of the programs they house, DePaul has proposed development plans that include construction of new music and theatre buildings on the Lincoln Park campus. The university recently filed its proposed planned development agreement with the Chicago City Council and expects public hearings to be conducted on the proposal later this year. Read the full article for further details about the proposed development.

Tom Kleinschmidt Named Director of Basketball Operations
Former DePaul men's basketball player Tom Kleinschmidt has been named as the university's new director of basketball operations. During his time as a Blue Demon player, he earned 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists, 100 steals and 100 three-point field goals. Following his college career, he spent 11 seasons playing professionally in Italy, Venezuela and Japan. Last season, he interned with DePaul's basketball program while completing his degree. For more about Kleinschmidt's appointment, visit DePaul Athletics news.

The Theatre School Readies for 2009-2010 Season
