DePaul MBA Programs Earn Top Rankings
Recruiters gave DePaul University high rankings in Crain's Chicago Business recently. Recruiters surveyed by the weekly magazine rated the university's real estate and accountancy MBA programs No. 1 and the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business MBA program No. 3 in the Chicago area. DePaul University's board of trustees gained six new members at a board meeting held Oct. 30. The new members include Harry J. Harczak, Jr. (COM '78), former executive vice president at CDW Corp.; Gerald A. Beeson (COM '94), chief operating officer of Citadel Investment Group LLC; Patrick Moore (COM '82), chairman and chief executive officer of Smurfit-Stone Container Corp.; Richard Hanson (COM '74), principal and founder of Mesa Development LLC; Dia S. Weil, one of the founders of Airfone; and the Rev. Richard Benson, C.M., the academic dean and assistant professor at St. John's Seminary. To celebrate next year's centennial of Daniel Burnham's Plan of Chicago, DePaul University is integrating the plan and related themes into a variety of university programs and initiatives. "The Burnham Plan and DePaul's urban and Vincentian mission are a perfect match, as Burnham's vision and DePaul help make Chicago a world-class city," says Joseph Schwieterman, director of DePaul's Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development. DePaul's centennial celebrations are held in collaboration with Chicago Metropolis 2020 and its 150 partner organizations, the Harry F. Chaddick Foundation, other universities and civic leaders. At a time when the economy is at the forefront of national attention, DePaul University's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business announces a new master's degree in economics and policy analysis. Scheduled to debut next fall, the program is ramping up buy offering some relevant courses already this year to seniors and graduate students. Thomas Donley, chair of DePaul's economics department, says the program "allows students to be more competitive in the job market after earning their master's degrees while still providing the option for them to pursue a Ph.D. in economics if they choose to do so." The newest of seven regional alumni chapters, the Chicagoland Chapter will continue its inauguration at the upcoming Chicagoland Alumni Chapter Launch in Glenview on Thursday, Nov. 20. The Rev. Hundreds Return to Campus for Reunion 2008
More than 500 alumni and friends gathered over the weekend of Oct. 17-19 to celebrate Reunion 2008. Alumni reunited with classmates and friends, reminisced about their time at DePaul and saw the changes on and around campus at several events held throughout the weekend. On Saturday evening, more than 200 alumni and guests from all reunion classes enjoyed themselves during the Reunion Dinner and Celebration, held at the Union League Club of Chicago. Check out photos from this year's events in the Reunion Photo Gallery.Mark your calendars! We're already looking forward to next year's Reunion, Oct. 16-18, 2009. Classes celebrating a reunion include 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999 and 2004.
