New School of Hospitality Leadership Launched with $7.5 Million Gift
The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation has given $7.5 million to help establish a new School of Hospitality Leadership at DePaul. The school will address a growing shortage of qualified, skilled employees and a significant lack of diversity among hospitality managers, as well as provide educational opportunities for qualified Chicago hospitality workers who desire to enter management but lack the educational credentials. Entrepreneurship Program Ranked among Nation's Best
DePaul University’s entrepreneurship program has again been recognized as one of the finest in the United States in Entrepreneur magazine/Princeton Review’s annual “Best Schools for Entrepreneurs” rankings.DePaul moved up three places to second on the list of best-rated graduate entrepreneur programs and placed seventh in the undergraduate entrepreneur education category. “DePaul’s rankings are a tribute to the academic excellence of the program and the quality of our faculty,” said Harold Welsch (COM '66, MBA '68), Coleman Entrepreneurship chair at DePaul, who founded the program. Former NBA Player Joins DePaul Men’s Basketball Staff
Former Blue Demons standout and retired NBA player Dave Corzine (LAS '78) has been named DePaul University’s director of men’s basketball operations. A member of the DePaul men’s basketball team from 1974-78, Corzine is the school’s all-time leading rebounder and still ranks third in school history for scoring. He joined the NBA in 1978 and played in the league for 13 seasons, spending seven with the Chicago Bulls.A native of Arlington Heights, Ill., Corzine has spent the past six seasons as the color analyst for DePaul radio broadcasts on WSCR (670 AM). Tour Chicago Neighborhoods with Fellow Alumni
Visit a diverse array of Chicago neighborhoods during the Second Annual Chicago Neighborhood Tour on Saturday, Nov. 1. Narrated by Dr. Irving Cutler, an author and expert on Chicago's ethnic heritage, the bus tour takes you to landmarks and neighborhoods throughout the city's south and southwest sides. Areas to be visited include Pilsen, Little Italy, Brighton Park, Marquette Park, Pill Hill and many more. Stops along the route include the Mexican Fine Arts Museum, the DuSable Museum of African American History and the historic Civil War section of Oak Woods Cemetery.
