DePaul Receives $320,000 Grant from the Searle Funds at the Chicago
Community Trust For the second consecutive year, DePaul’s School of Education has been awarded a $320,000 grant for the LINK-INitiative Program from the Searle Funds at the Chicago Community Trust. The LINK-INitiative, implemented in 2002, is a unique model of teacher education training and professional development. In 2005, the grant helped support the organization of the LINK-INitiative structure and administration, as well as the formation of teacher groups. This year the funding will concentrate on stronger program implementation and the review of each participating Professional Development School’s action plan. Through this partnership, schools become an important part of DePaul’s teacher and education program, and the university is an integral part of the school environment. The LINK-INitiative involves four Chicago public schools, two Chicago Catholic schools and DePaul faculty from the School of Education, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Music and The Theatre School. DePaul's Leo V. Ryan Center for Creativity and Innovation Earns Top-10 Honors The March Issue of Fortune Small Business magazine named DePaul’s Leo V. Launched in 1998, the Center offers workshops, customized training and consultations for individuals, teams and organizations seeking innovative strategies and tools for breakthrough thinking. The magazine especially noted the center’s Idea Clinic, a quarterly public forum for students, faculty, local business leaders and alums to share creative business ideas and innovative opportunities. The next Idea Clinic, “Managing Cross-Functional Creativity”, will be held in the DePaul Center on April 20. For more information, visit the Ryan Center Web site. |
