Designs Unveiled for New Home for
Internationally renowned firm Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects has been chosen to design Chicago's new events center, the future home of Blue Demons basketball. "We are delighted that Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects has been selected to design the city's new events center," says DePaul University President, the Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M. "DePaul knows firsthand about the celebrated firm's professionalism and world-class talent. Just this month we unveiled a stunning new building that architects from Pelli Clarke Pelli designed for our renowned Theatre School. I am confident they will design an equally special events center that will make the South Loop proud."
In addition to creating jobs and revitalizing the Motor Row area in the South Loop through enhanced tourism and convention opportunities, the events center will accommodate 10,000 fans for home basketball games. The venue also will be available to host concerts, assemblies for conventions and various DePaul events. DePaul students and fans from across the city will enjoy convenient access to the venue via a new CTA Green Line station expected to open a couple of blocks to the west in late 2014, two years before the planned completion of the building.
